Already during the recent fires there have been losses of priceless irreplaceable historical items like pictures and diaries with some of these dating back to the 1800s.  Some of us here in Big Sur know all too well how devastating these losses can be.  All we have left are our memories, unfortunately the pioneers with their memories have long since faded and/or passed and the memorabilia that was a record of their lives and times is now gone forever.

 

We, at the Historical Society are requesting, and frankly pleading, with those of you who have any pictures, documents, diaries or anything else relating to Big Sur to please, please, make copies or scan or use whatever mechanism works best for you to save these precious memories for future generations to see what life used to be like down here.

 

While we at the BSHS would love to have your copies for our archives, it would be enough just for us to know that there are copies kept safely somewhere. If the BSHS can assist you please let us know!
